Competition for Nippers
Junior Surf Sports is the competitive arm of our Nippers program, a natural extension of the skills every Nipper builds on a normal Sunday. Kids test their swimming, board paddling, beach sprints, beach flags and more against Nippers from other clubs, while building fitness, resilience and friendships.
Competition is open from Under 9 (some carnivals allow U8s), once the skills evaluation for the age group is met. It is entirely optional: every Nipper does the core Sunday program, and only those who want to train and compete need to.
Every event has a genuine lifesaving basis. Board races mirror a rescue paddle-out, beach flags builds the reaction speed to reach a casualty first, and team events like the Board Rescue simulate a real rescue.
