Joining South Maroubra
South Maroubra Surf Club sits at the southern end of beautiful Maroubra Beach, one of Sydney’s best. First and foremost we are a lifesaving club, always looking for members to join our ranks of skilled and dedicated lifesavers. We are also home to a flourishing Nipper program, where our lifesavers of tomorrow are trained.

Choose your pathway
Whether you want to patrol the beach, earn your Bronze Medallion or get your Surf Rescue Certificate, we would love to have you on board. To patrol you need your Bronze Medallion. Younger members can start with the Surf Rescue Certificate.
Ages 13 to 14
Surf Rescue Certificate
The first step to becoming a lifesaver. Our next SRC course runs over 4 weeks in January 2027, with a separate course for current Nippers starting in February 2027. Information night: 12 January 2027, 6.30pm at the Surf Club.
Ages 15 and up
Bronze Medallion
Complete the BM and become a fully fledged lifesaver. Register your interest and the education team will let you know when the next 6 week course starts. Questions? education@southmaroubrasurfclub.com.au or see the course flyer.
Ages 5 to 13
Nipper program
Nippers 2026/27 is now full and registrations are closed. Registrations for the 2027/28 season open in July 2027. Kids learn surf safety and skills through sand and ocean activities, building confidence as they grow. See the Nippers FAQ or email nippers@southmaroubrasurfclub.com.au.

Membership fees
Members renew and pay fees each year (the season runs 1 May to 30 April). Early bird pricing for 2026/27 closed on 15 August 2026, so the rates below apply now. Joining and renewing are done online.
